Regional Learning Academy
Recent ActivityThe Regional Learning Academy is for high school students age 16 and older who have experienced difficulty in attaining success in a traditional school environment. It is designed to meet the unique needs of each student through supportive small group instruction in academic areas, as well as participation in career and technical education. Students are exposed to traditional and virtual learning environments in their pursuit of a Regents diploma.
Students may enter the Regional Learning Academy through a formal superintendent’s hearing, an informal conference, or by school district referral. Students interested in enrolling may have minor behavioral histories and can benefit from counseling and support services.
Classroom spaces are designed to provide small group instruction and counseling for students and families. Students work in small group and individual settings while obtaining grade level academic instruction. There are strong systems of support for students and their families.
The primary goal of the Regional Learning Academy is to prepare each student for a Regents diploma and to provide career exploration through the Career and Technical Education Center. Development of pro-social and essential life skills is a central component of the student day. Responsibility, courtesy, punctuality, communication skills, and self-confidence are key skills that are developed through participation in this program.
Students receive a half day each of academic and career-based instruction. Please see the attached brochure for further details.
